Growing and becoming the best you for the enjoyment of your loved ones and others
It’s no secret that growing older can be difficult, especially when you’re a part of the LGBTQ+ community. It often feels like you’re standing still while the world around you continues to move forward, and the pressure to conform to what “society” considers “normal” can start to wear on you. But I’m here to remind you that getting older and choosing to accept yourself doesn’t have to be a nerve-wracking experience.
Don’t forget to take a moment to pause and appreciate the person you’ve become and the people you’ve surrounded yourself with. Whether it’s your family, friends, or partners – each person in your life has had an impact on your growth and maturity, and by learning to accept yourself, you’re setting a strong example for those around you.
Yes, your hair (or beard!) will eventually start to grey, but that doesn’t mean you have to hide it away and brush it off as a sign of ageing. Instead, use it as a reminder of your strength and resilience, and that no matter how life may change or the world may spin, you can be comfortable and embrace all the ups and downs that come with getting older.
Celebrate the milestones, big or small, and be proud of the person you are. Showing others that it’s okay to be different and that growing older doesn’t have to be a negative experience. It is an amazing way to stand up as your true self and be the best partner, friend, sister, brother, and parent you can be.
So just remember, when your hair begins to grey, don’t look back on age as a sign of regret – accept it as a beautiful reminder of your growth and success.
